Tras un paréntesis algo prolongado de la serie de vídeos Atlantic Drift, acojonantes entregas de origen británico en exclusiva para Thrasher, vuelven con su episodio 12 con, para mi gusto, más fuerza que nunca. Hago la egocéntrica alusión a mi gusto personal porque, aunque a menudo me encantan las entregas de Atlantic Drift, esta se centra en el patinador que más capta mi atención en las mismas: Casper Brooker.

Casper Brooker protagonizaba un clip perdido por ahí que no se cómo llego a mis ojos hace unos 7 u 8 años. en él podías ver un chaval rubio DESTROZANDO el mítico spot londinense llamado Southbanks, patinando a una velocidad inusitada, con un estilo limpio y lleno de energía a la vez. Me gustaba todo en esas imágenes: la forma de darse pata, la forma de llevar el gorro en la cabeza, la chaqueta, la naturalidad, las ganas de patinar así cuando todo estaba envuelto de frío y lluvia más allá del cobijo del spot.

Creo que por aquellos entonces patinaba para la marca, también inglesa, Heroin. Es una marca a la que le tengo enorme respeto y por la que han pasado, o siguen ahí, muchos patinadores que me han encendido la llama del engorile, pero algo me decía que el paso de esa locomotora rubia por esa marca iba a ser breve, que iba a ser llamado a invadir otros mundos y otros escenarios más a la vista de todo el mundo. Ya sobre 2016 - y aquí no me he documentado un carajo, tiro de memoria- sale un pedazo de vídeo llamado Vase, de una nueva marca inglesa llamada Isle Skateboards. En esa marca, y con permiso de Palace, de repente, se concentra la aristocracia del skateboarding británico, con nombres como Nick Jensen, Paul Shier o Chris Jones - con una partaza final para levantarse y aplaudir en el salón de tu casa, mientras le das un susto a la yaya, que estaba dándole caña al Candy Crush en ese momento- ; pero, entre esos nombres, brota como de la nada el de Casper Brooker que, por cierto, estaba anunciado como integrante del elenco del nuevo vídeo de Heroin, que estaba por salir en fechas similares al de Isle. Casper ha saltado de una marca a la otra, de un vídeo al otro y nos ofrece una parte tremenda, en un vídeo que es una obra maestra absolutamente infravalorada o desconocida como es Vase. Yo solo os digo que lo compré, físicamente, cosa que no hay mucha necesidad de hacer si no es que algo te roba mucho el corazón. Isle puso una joya en el Planeta Tierra y es ese vídeo, siempre estáis a tiempo de verlo, porque ahora es gratis y ahí lo tenéis en YouTube.

Muchos de los miembros del equipo de Isle se corresponden con los habituales de Atlantic Drift, cuyo primer episodio aparece ahora hace unos cinco años y se titula, simple y llanamente: London. La capital del imperio como punto de partida de los viajes y tropelías de esta gente, ilustrados en cada nueva entrega, hasta llegar a esta más reciente, plenamente dedicada al patinador que ha ocupado gran parte de estas líneas que hoy os escribo. En el pequeño texto que acompaña la doceava entrega dice algo así como que lo que nos trae Casper Brooker es una moderna e inspiradora nueva ola de manuals que iguala la elegancia con la destrucción. Bueno, no está mal hacer que un manual parezca destructivo, son las cosas del futuro, yo qué sé. Lo que ocurre es que sobre la locomotora rubia, hace unas semanas - o un par de meses, el tiempo vuela- se anunció una noticia bomba: fichaba para Baker. Comparar es feo y, aunque puedo haber rozado el fanatismo con el tema del vídeo de Isle, hay que reconocer que la casa de Andrew Reynolds ya son palabras mayores. De esta manera, ya del tirón, salieron dos promodels de Casper Brooker en  Baker que, hasta hace bien poco, estuvieron en Petshop Skateboards.
