Pocos patinadores he conocido en los últimos 30 años que no hayan tenido que enfrentarse, aunque sea puntualmente, a sus demonios. Los demonios de cada persona pueden ser muy diferentes y peculiares en cada caso, difíciles de narrar a los demás, inefables en su forma e indescriptibles en la amenaza que para cada uno de nosotros suponen.

Sergi Marqués, conocido por muchos como “Buchi”, es un patinador que se desenvuelve de una forma en la que deja claro que se guía por buenos referentes, a su vez, en su faceta de ilustrador y tatuador, tiene otro universo particular que no deja indiferente y, dentro de ese imaginario encontramos a “sus demonios”. Todas las personas, patinen o no, saben qué adversidades, tentaciones y voces corruptas interiores hay que torear para salir adelante, para lograr vivir en paz con uno mismo, primero, y con el resto del mundo después.

El gráfico que Sergi ha hecho para Petshop es un homenaje a esa pugna interna que suele ser más dura que el enfrentamiento con en el mundo que nos rodea. El skateboarding, por otro lado, va mucho de eso, porque en ocasiones no es otra cosa que una pelea con uno mismo para sentir que se es capaz de hacer cosas que tiempo atrás parecían inverosímiles. No solamente eso, sino que además llegan los momentos en los que hay que tener una cabeza firme y un espíritu limpio para seguir patinando, sacando cierto placer de ello, sin olvidar la batalla que a veces toca librar con otras obligaciones, quehaceres, riesgos, prejuicios, vicios, amores rotos, desconfianzas y maldad humana en general.

Buchi, Julio Arnau y el que escribe estas líneas, por casualidad, nos encontramos en un concierto de Enemic Interior, una banda emergente que se halla entre las favoritas de los tres. Durante esa velada se gestó esta colaboración que hoy os presentamos. Casualmente, o quizás no, las letras de Enemic Interior no escatiman en referencias a los demonios internos, a las voces interiores y a la batalla íntima que se exterioriza en rabia, fuerza y energía. A veces parece que patinar, al menos para nosotros, es un poco eso también y al ver que todo cuadraba, incluso pedimos permiso a la banda para usar un tema suyo en el clip de presentación de las nuevas tablas y prendas que hemos hecho con Buchi. Ni qué decir tiene que estamos emocionados de haber recibido el visto bueno de los Enemic, de presentar una colaboración que nos parece que ha tomado forma de manera increíble y, además, de poder hacerlo con grabaciones de muchos de nuestros patinadores favoritos llevando lo nuevo de Petshop.

I have known few skaters in the last 30 years who have not had to face, even if only occasionally, their demons. Each person's demons can be very different and peculiar in each case, difficult to narrate to others, ineffable in their form, and indescribable in the threat they pose to each of us.

Sergi Marqués, known by many as "Buchi," is a skater who maneuvers in a way that makes it clear he is guided by good references. Furthermore, in his role as an illustrator and tattoo artist, he has another particular universe that is intriguing. Within that imaginary realm, we find "his demons." Everyone, whether they skate or not, knows the adversities, temptations, and corrupt inner voices that must be dealt with to move forward, to achieve peace with oneself first, and with the rest of the world afterward.

The graphic that Sergi has created for Petshop is a tribute to that internal struggle that is often harder than facing the world around us. Skateboarding, on the other hand, is a lot about that because, at times, it is nothing more than a battle with oneself to feel capable of doing things that seemed implausible in the past. Not only that, but there are also moments when one must have a firm head and a clear spirit to keep skating, deriving a certain pleasure from it, without forgetting the battles that sometimes must be fought with other obligations, chores, risks, prejudices, vices, broken loves, distrust, and human malice in general.

Buchi, Julio Arnau, and the one writing these lines coincidentally found ourselves at a concert of Enemic Interior, an emerging band that is among the favorites of the three. During that evening, this collaboration, which we present to you today, was conceived. Perhaps not so coincidentally, the lyrics of Enemic Interior spare no references to internal demons, inner voices, and the intimate battle that is externalized in rage, strength, and energy. Sometimes it seems that skating, at least for us, is a bit of that too, and seeing that everything fit, we even asked the band for permission to use one of their songs in the presentation clip for the new boards and clothing we made with Buchi. Needless to say, we are excited to have received the approval of Enemic Interior, to present a collaboration that we think has taken shape incredibly, and also to do it with recordings of many of our favorite skaters wearing Petshop's new items
